Many of you know us as longtime collectors and sellers of antique and vintage Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter holiday memorabilia, paper ephemera, antique dolls and toys and fine jewelry. Here is a grouping of three outstanding and very desirable pieces of Hallowe'en history!
As a collector myself, I tend to really appreciate and acquire vintage Hallowe'en memorabilia with spookier imagery. This never-used MINT condition invitation postcard features just that! An awesome witch stirring her smoke-filled cauldron with her always faithful black cat by her side, who is being scared by a black skull nearby. A Jack o' Lantern and a flying bat complete the scene. I love the greeting, which reads Vampires prowling, cats a-howling, spooks a-sighing, bats a-flying. Join the revels, don’t be late. Hear the witches tell your fate! How WICKEDLY wonderful! This card is Series No. 1134, Halloween. There were six designs in this series, and this card was Made in the USA. It is simply marked M. It has a divided back and it is in absolutely pristine condition.
The two never-used party placecards are marked Made in the USA, and the witch is marked No. 630-3. The cat and Jack o' Lanterns is marked No. 630-4. These have never even been folded! The colors are bright and the paper is crisp. The only condition issue to report is a small very light area of browning to the top edge of the kitty cat card.
If you are following vintage Hallowe'en results from the last several years, you will see that small paper holiday ephemera – especially when in excellent and UNused condition – is exceedingly desirable. These three FRIGHTfully fun pieces would be ideal for established collector or for those wishing to join our fun hobby.
