My son was diagnosed with autism when hewas 2 and they told me he would never speak. I set out to prove them wrong anddeveloped this product based on how much he liked/needed manipulatives in hishands at all times. My son is now 22 and he is in graduate school and no onewould ever know that once upon a time long ago they said he would never talk.In fact through his school years I had many teachers tell me that he talked toomuch! I copyrighted my product in 1999 and call them Phonics Boxes.
I spent years developing this productand have many wonderful reviews from school teachers (in many school districtsthroughout the US), home schoolers, speech therapists, reading specialists,educators and parents.
Phonics Boxes are designed to help teachers and parents teach children phonics.This is a great educational tool for your student at home or in the classroom.Children from the age of Preschool through 6th grade or beyond (specialeducation) will begin by learning the alphabet and their sounds. They willlearn new words and how to pronounce them. Older or more advanced students canlearn the rules of the alphabet, spelling, creative writing and storytelling byusing the items in the boxes. The toy manipulatives I personally chose based oncolor, texture, durability and interest to a child. You will be amazed at howexcited your students of all ages will be when you pull Phonics Boxes out.

The Consonant Set has almost 200 individual miniature items and toys throughout the 18 boxes. All items are phonetically correct. For example, I purposefully have a giraffe in the J box.
There are 18 individual 4x4x4 boxes within a large carrying case. There is no work for you to do once it arrives - set is already built with stickers and toys inside each box. In each individual box there are up to 12 miniature items in each one. Each of the miniature items represents the beginning sound of the the single consonant sound representing each box.
There are many different ways you can use your Consonant Boxes. Each of the boxes in this set contain up to 12 individual items that begin with the sound represented by the letter of that box. There are no blend sounds. Some of the items will be familiar to the student and other items will promote learning new vocabulary. Many of the items are intended to be interactive for extended play time and learning (ie: compass in the C box).
Once all the letters have been learned, ALL the boxes can be emptied and the student can have the task of putting the item back in the correct box.
Each set comes with directions on different ways you can play and learn with Phonics Boxes. Extended uses could include word cards, creative writing assignments and storytelling time (one of my favorites).
I recommend this for ages 3 through 4th grade. Items shown may be different than the actual items you find in your set. Items will never be less, just upgraded.
