Description
In Greek mythology, Phaethon was the son of Helios. He was struck down by Zeus and fell to his death after
failing to control the horses of his Father's sun chariot, which he stole and attempted to ride across the sky.
Phaethon
combines a portrayal of this story with the 18th century hypothesis of a 5th planet between Mars and Jupiter. Phaethon was believed to have been destroyed by Jupiter's gravitational pull, forming the asteroid belt.
