Here we have an incredible Large scale oil on canvas painting, with impressive parcel gilt wood and gesso frame.
The painting appears to be late 18th/early 19th century, most probably Italian, portrait painting of Saint with hands raised in prayer, the canvas was cleaned and restored, traces of over repainting on the left hair, two small dots on the canvas (not a hole), 2” canvas fold in the center.
An exceptional large, and heavy frame with wood base and gesso Baroque ornaments, with old gilt wood details, and later gold paint, oval opening in the center for the painting, although the painting is rectangular in shape. The frame is solid has, minor cracks, chips, due to age, nothing serious
the painting appears without a signature.
