DESCRIPTION:
Offered for your review and consideration is this estate fresh and truly magnificent and unblemished oil on artist board,
early 20th century
period painting by

artist
L. H. McConnell
and dated
1910,
of an
English Setter
sporting dog in the field. It's still in its original period gold gilt pressed/stamped wooden frame, with a paper picture framer's label still affixed to the back of the wood frame. The oil surface of the painting is largely free of noticeable abrasions, scuffs, creases, pushes, tears, paint loss, foxing, mildew or water damage. It has a fairly flat, matte finish and if the oil painting was at some point varnished, that varnish has now diminished and matted back. The frame is also in very good condition and appears to be original to the painting. The
English Setter
sporting dog is incredibly well realized and the artist was clearly familiar with this particular breed of

sporting dog. It looks to the left in a poised, paused prone position. Terrific.
CONDITION:
Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition.
