    Description

    JOYCE ROYBAL (1955- )
Joyce Roybal lives in New York, Paris and Rome.
He (this Joyce is a man) is known worldwide for his
"Puffy People," mostly groups of children playing sports or
groups of people playing musical instruments.
This Roybal is unusual for several reasons, including that
it is of bicycle riders. I've seen photos of a bicycle painting
by Roybal but had not seen one "live" until this acquisition.
This is the seventh Roybal I've been fortunate to find
in my seven years of acquiring estate art lots.
When I buy an estate lot, I particularly look for known artists
but at a smaller-than-usual size, making it more affordable
to buy a listed artist. Such is the case with this 8 x 10 painting
that is 10 x 12 framed, and what a perfect frame it is.
We believe this painting was purchased from Roybal
unframed by the estate while travelling, and framed upon
returning home where their framer did a great job.
    This painting of bicyclists
is done in his very unique style
and serves as a great example of Roybal's work except that
his figures are usually gender-free whereas these riders
are clearly female with the wind billowing their dresses
    as they ride.
What also isn't typical is the smaller size.

    5/10/20 - 12 x 18 framed oil on canvas, 5
Roybal’s work is based on or inspired by the work of
    Graciela Rodo Boulanger.
It is difficult to identify one from the other when they do not sign.
There are subtle differences requiring a magnifier to assess.
Boulanger’s work is significantly more expensive,
making this unique style affordable via Roybal.
    Because this item is 8 x 10 with a 10 x 12 frame,
I am offering this Roybal at the low price of 5 or Best Offer.
The framing job on this item probably cost 0 decades ago.
