Description
When the Vietnam War started, there was no camouflage clothing officially issued.Soldiers that were allowed to had to make do with private purchase hunting clothes, foreign and domestic surplus, often from WW2, and even South Vietnamese uniforms produced in-country, like the famous Tiger Stripes.
Because of this, the military started issuing ERDL uniforms in the same practical jungle fatigue cut, most making it in towards the end of the war and used by various Special Forces, Marines, and even some very fortunate regular troops.
The ERDL pattern was developed in 1948 and is the immediate precursor of the ubiquitous M81 woodland pattern.
In fact, woodland is just an up-scaled (by 33%) ERDL.
There are several colorways of ERDL floating around.
This is the lime “green dominant” version.
You will receive exactly the item you see in the pictures.
The pants are in the Small Regular size and appear to be lightly used at worse.
The tags are clearly readable and there does not appear to be any significant fading.
These are dated to 1968.
It probably sat in a warehouse for most of the last 50+ years.
The only fault is a small tear on the knee that is barely noticeable when worn.
The Vietnam War is now 50 years in the past and is being increasingly re-examined because of how fundamentally it changed American history.
