. Although it is used, it is in
very good
operating condition. The upper brass moistening roller, the spiral-rubber lower moistening roller, and black hard-rubber impression roller are in good condition along with their bearings. There are no missing parts or trays, nothing is cracked or broken, and is fully-functional. It is powered by a 115-volt, 60-cycle, A.C. electric motor completely enclosed within the unit, with a standard three-prong grounded plug on the end of an 80-inch long cord, requiring no special electrical installation or power requirements. It operates fine on ordinary household current. The machine operates at a constant speed of 110 copies per minute.
This particular model is the fourth-generation of the original model D-31 designed by Chicago-area industrial designer Joseph Palma, Jr. (1909-2007), and first introduced in 1958 for the heavy-duty demands by both businesses and academic institutions. This particular design concept became the benchmark of DITTO’s complete line of machines which included their nine-inch, fourteen-inch, and eighteen-inch wide models, both electric and hand, in standing and seated operation.
This is an extremely clean and well-built duplicator, with all of its simple operating controls accented in red. It is almost impossible to make it jam or lock. A red operating light clearly indicates when the motor is running. The on-off switch is combined within the pressure control to release the impression roller pressure and prevent flat spots. The machine has stainless steel frames; a highly-polished aluminum alloy cylinder; and durable high-impact Cycolac
®
black-colored side covers with grey-colored trim strips. The paper trays are made of steel and also finished in black. It measures 14-inches high, 15-inches deep, 29-inches long

. The drum is equipped with a block-out slot for covering portions of the master you do not wish to reproduce, and a drum-mounted, finger-tip margin adjustment control which can raise or lower the position of the printing on your sheet.
This duplicator features DITTO’s SURE-FEED
™
paper tray. The finger-tip adjustable side guides hold approximately 100 sheets of 20-pound paper or comparable card stock that may range from three-inches to nine-inches in width, and up to 14-inches in length. Dual movable synchronized rubber feed wheels and corner separators assure positive feed of each sheet down to and including the last one. Odd-size or heavy stock can also be fed by hand by simply locking the automatic feeder unit in its upright position. There are no tricky rubber retainer pads or breaker bars to fuss with. The tray can be loaded in seconds each time with just the flip of a single lever. In addition, feed table markings correlate with those on the master clamp. Master loading is quick and positive by simply moving the clamp lever with a forward motion to open, and back to close. It has a maximum duplicating area of 8½-inches by 13⅝-inches. The maximum spirit master size is 9-inches by 14-inches.

depending upon the color of the aniline dye-impregnated carbon sheet used in preparing the master. The duplicator is the device that brings the master, fluid, and blank paper together to produce a copy. Each sheet of paper is automatically fed into the machine, moistened with spirit fluid
(methanol alcohol)
that will dissolve a small portion of the dye image, pressed against the master by the impression roller, then ejected and stacked onto the receiving tray, within almost a half-second per copy.

Direct Process Duplicators, there are separate controls for both the fluid and impression roller to achieve maximum, satisfactory, and economical run lengths of copies per master. The fluid system is operator-controlled, pump-regulated, thereby obtaining up to 30% more copies to every gallon of fluid. This machine features DITTO’s “NO-POUR” system which means the spirit fluid is metered directly from the gallon container. Simply insert the hose with its brass filter assembly into the container, tighten the can cap, and you’re ready

no spills, no rags, no funnels, no spouts, no waste.
Finished copies are automatically stacked face-up in the receiving tray with the aid of adjustable side guides and back stop that will accommodate various sizes of impression paper. There is a three-digit reset copy counter to keep tally of the total number of copies reproduced. This particular model is also equipped with an automatic copy pre-set, count-down feature where you set the number of desired copies. The duplicator will stop rotation once the desired number of copies are obtained. No paper waste with unwanted copies.
