    Description

This is an Estate Fresh old Oil on Board Painting of a Mother and her Child done by the listed NM artist Donna Clair.  This piece depicts what I can only assume, is a Latin woman lovingly cuddling her baby.  This piece is kinda heart warming and really nicely done.  It is signed lower rt and dated '83.  It has really good colors and nice brush work in her impressionistic style.  It measures 22"x19" wide framed in what I am sure is the original frame.  Written on the backboard is the name Diane Dal Santo who was the owner of this piece, a much beloved local Judge in Albuquerque.  A lil information on Ms Clair follows:
    Donna Clair
(Born 1939 - )  She is a Southwest Impressionist painter.  She moved from Chicago to Santa Fe NM in 1967.    Donna Clair is known for Landscape, floral, figure, and genre painting.  For the past 50 years the Mountains of Northern NM have been her home and inspiration for a large body of fine works.  Her trips to Mexico and Guatemala have also become who she is as an artist.
2 Roads join Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico. The most traveled is N.M. Highway 68 which follows the dramatic plateau above the Rio Grande Gorge. The alternate route, called the HIGH ROAD by locals, meanders through the Blood of Christ Mountains — Las Montañas de Sangre de Cristo – winding past centuries-old settlements rich in Hispanic and Native American culture. Donna Clair moved from Santa Fe to the mountain village of Truchas, and has lived and painted in Taos for 30 years.  She has been featured in many Art Publications thru out the southwest and has been in numerous shows exibitions and Museums as well.  Her art is own both privately and publicly and she has auction records as high as 00.00 just last year.
