    Description

I originally purchased this lovely piece at auction in NJ. It was a perfect fit for my Victorian home, but I have since moved to the beach in Florida....still lovely to look at, but it doesn't match beach decor very well.
I don't know what I love the most.
First, the art: This is a watercolor on paper that has a city scene. The architecture shown is old, seeming like old parts of a European city or a colonial section of one in the U.S. The colors are pastel...very neutral tones. I have not taken the watercolor out of the frame as it seems to have the original paper backing. I do not see an artist signature.   The matte is white with no foxing, and the paper on the back looks to be not the age of the frame.  I don't know if original to the period and re-set or if it is perhaps post 1950.
Second, the frame: The style is Eastlake with the typical engraved design. This is different, though, in that it has an ebonized-style black paint. On the inner border, there is also a stylized design that looks like a tulip to me. There are also two bands of gold trim.
The overall size is 17-1/8" x 15-1/8". The watercolor size as shown is 4.5" x 6.5".
    Condition:
The frame has some knocks that have chipped away black paint.  I have not dared to attempt doing a match because it should match both color and shine.
In the lower left corner, there is a loss of material (please see close-up phone with arrow)
On the lower right of the frame, there is a piece of wood that is lifting.  It probably could be glued to be more secure, but I have left it alone as there isn't much gap to apply adhesive.
I'm not an art dealer, just a collector for my own enjoyment.  If you have particular questions, please do feel free to ask.
I apologize ahead of time for the cost of shipping. I only ship USPS Priority as they supply the boxes and do better with arriving safely.
